Varicella-soster cirus, which is the same virus responsible for chickenpox.
Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. It is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the same virus responsible for chickenpox. After a person recovers from chickenpox, the virus can remain formant in nerve tissues for years before becoming active again and causing shingles. The condition typically presents as a stripe of blisters on one side of the body, often accompanied by itching, tingling, and severe pain. Shingles can be a particularly uncomfortable and debilitating condition, especially among older adults or individuals with weakened immune systems.
